Understanding

For the little drops that fall on earth

And for the little winds that spring the shoots

Within them in the narrow calls

Strides Mercury in his abode

And for the little clouds that fly by the birds up high

And the little shrouds of mistletoe

With a shriek of the thunders that laugh

And the torrents that shake when asked

In those little tides of unspoken glee

There rests the sentiment of spree

For the tulips that rise in life

And the sun that sets in west

For the little turtles that cover a mile

And the mountains that block the winds

Among them seldom flies remorse

For they sing a verse so dense

Among all that lives and falls

That grows among the ones counted small or tall

For all who fell to remorse and disdain

I stand among you all seeking peace and pain

For among these lies the verses of life

A small clause that seldom bites

But in it is all our standings
