An aeon passed within these walls,
a forever with the voices around. I grew up
or perhaps just lived through
in these mellow times of no sound.
It is in this silence,
that the valley knows its dawn
and the sound of the river that gurgles
and of the snake that rattles down its place.
The bedouin though, that lives amidst all but dust-
sings and dances by the fire when the silence dawns.
It is his protection from the dead and from death
the colours of his tent hiding his world.
How must one see the fall of silence - as a little nurture
or as the day of celebration
or perhaps just some gnawing like the Aye-Aye does
or maybe just lie down and wait for sleep to come.
