There are at times,
And maybe you've seen some too,
trees that stand along the road -
long trees, strong trees,
trees that swayed as our fathers drove.
And now today, when the tree falls,
a little sigh comes out -
in pain and love that the tree lived through
in memory of watching it
greeting the ones who drove past.
I never knew that tree,
and yet I loved it there on the road
and now a gap lays
where the giant senile tree once stood
and I am sad I never said goodbye.
